Keyboard keys fail to work
The keys on the keyboard in the Lenovo Essential G550 will stop working instantly when the keys are pressed and make a beeping noise. It is a result of the filter keys being on and it needs to be turned off to fix the issue. Click on ‘Start’, ‘Control Panel’ and go to ‘Access Center’.
Num Lock on the keypad does not work
If the Num Lock key on the keypad has stopped working then the first step towards solving the issue will be checking the BIOS set up and to do that when the system boots, enter the BIOS set up and update BIOS with the latest updates. After the update is installed it will automatically detect the issue and fix it. Alternatively, one can also log on to the manufacturer’s site to install the latest BIOS update available for Lenovo systems.
Dead diagonal rows of the keyboard
This is one of the frequent issues with the Lenovo Essential G550. To fix the issue the first thing to do is run a virus scan on the system, and afterwards check the keyboard drivers uninstall it and reinstall from the device manager window. After the installation of drivers open the keyboard connector on the system to check the pins, using a connector cleaning solution, clean the keyboard and check whether the issue persists or not. If the issue persists then it is a problem with the keyboard connector and needs to be replaced.
Keyboard repeating letters
When using the keyboard on a document or WordPad, typing in a letter may bring up the letter thrice and it this can be a repeated issue. The issue lies in the settings of the keyboard software and to resolve it, right click on ‘My Computer’, manage computer management and click on device manager. Under device manger look for keyboard, right click on the driver and click on ‘Properties’ and adjust the character repeat of the keyboard typing frequency.
