Lenovo 2011 Global Student Science and Technology Outlook survey, which was conducted recently concluded that majority of the students of developing countries are opting for science and related studies.
Chinese corporation Lenovo has recently announced the results of their 2011 Global Student Science and Technology Outlook, which was a multi-country survey. The survey comes up with an interesting conclusion. As per the survey results, the students in the upcoming and developing countries such as Russia, Mexico and India are moving their career paths towards science related domains. Moreover, the survey was compared to the results of the already developed countries like US, Canada, Japan and UK. Majority of the survey participants said that science interested them more than any other subject.
“These results are eye-opening in calling attention to the differences in how students around the world view science as a career aspiration,” said Michael Schmedlen, worldwide director of education, Lenovo.
He further added, “While the study shows some interesting disparities, the outcomes suggest possible solutions for how to engage students and foster their passion for science. As the world’s #1 PC-maker in education, we believe programs like our partnership with YouTube Space Lab will do this by providing world-class judges as mentors along with phenomenally cool incentives like astronaut training and technology prizes.”
The survey revealed various facts and figures, which said that the interest also differs and varies as per the nationalities. The study also said that science is supposedly considered to be of more interest among the students as compared to arts.
Lenovo survey also says that there is a major chunk of students willing to take up science career path whereas there were some who resisted and cited reasons such as less knowledge and less confidence.
Lenovo 2011 Global Student Science and Technology Outlook revealed interesting facts and the poll also said that almost 4,800 students would choose to stay on Earth rather than travelling to the Moon.
This is one of the interesting initiatives taken by Lenovo for the welfare of students and the youth. Apart from commercial interests, the corporation is into various other activities for the welfare of mankind.
