Lenovo has gone into partnership with BesTV (a subsidiary of Shanghai Media Group) to launch a TV set top box that would be based on latest technology. It would provide exclusive television content as well as Internet access to the viewers.
The device, Lenovo A30 Internet TV Set Top Box, is equipped with 1.2 GHz VIA Nano processor and VIA VX900 media system processor to facilitate efficient performance, while ensuring optimal compatibility with major media formats, both audio and video. The subscription to the box offers regular television content such as news, sports, movies, dramas, programs for kids, games streamed via cloud technology, karaoke, and many others. BesTV would telecast 90 percent of the latest movies within a span of a month from their premier. It means no long waits for watching those new movies that you would miss. Lenovo A30 Internet TV Set Top Box also has features like 'picture-in-picture' and 'one-touch' button that enables switching between TV and Internet, easily.
"VIA is delighted to have our VIA Nano processor platform chosen for the Lenovo A30 Internet set top box. The advanced performance and low power consumption makes it the ideal platform for driving the proliferation of Smart TV innovation in China," said Richard Brown, VP of Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc.
Lenovo has recently introduced its Google TV (or Smart TV) named LeTV, as well as the Lenovo cloud services. Therefore, the launch of an Internet-capable set top box is an added advantage, which only indicates that the leading IT company of China is all determined to diversify further.
