System Restore in Lenovo® PC

System Restore is a feature in Windows operating system which takes snapshots of critical system files, program files and registry settings of your Lenovo PC. This information is stored as restore points. When your computer stops functioning, by using these restores points you can to return Windows operating system to a previous state. System Restore has got the ability to change scripts, batch files and other kinds of executable files on your computer. System Restore is similar to undo command in Microsoft Word. To remove any system changes till the time when your computer working correctly, you can use System Restore. The most important thing is that the System Restore does not affect your personal data files, like browsing history, drawings, favorites, etc. so that you will not lose changes made to these files.

Windows operating system regularly records a snapshot called restore points of your computer. At the time of significant system events, like driver installation, the operating system creates restore points. You can also create and name your own restore points at any time. When you have installed a program that has made your computer unstable, you can open system restore, choose a restore point, and return your computer to its previous stable state.
Performing system restoration
For performing system restoration, it is very important that you need to log on to Windows as an administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials. You need to ask the system administrator for help when your computer is part of a network. System Restore option is available in 'System Tools' in 'All Programs' section of 'Start menu'.
By pressing the 'F8' key during the initial start up, you can start your computer in Safe Mode and to select 'Safe Mode with command prompt' you can use the arrow keys. After that when you are asked to select an operating system, you can select the corresponding operating system for your Lenovo computer and then press 'Enter'. Log on as an administrator. At the command prompt, type '%systemroot%system32restorerstrui.exe' and then press 'Enter'. After that, follow instructions to restore your computer to a functional state.
