My X60 runs XP Pro SP3 with all updates. Monitor has been cutting out for last few months (after professional reload of OS) and lately cuts out more and more frequently. Screen may go black, orange, blue or green. Usually can be rectified by putting machine into standby and coming out again. Doesn’t appear to be power saving software issue. Is my video card overheating? I have no idea how to find or fix this problem.

The causes for this might range from driver corruption to overheating of parts of the laptop (specifically the Display Adapter). Follow these steps and check if the problem persists.
• Update the drivers for the Display Adapter. Uninstall the existing one and reinstall the latest driver from the device manufacturer’s website.
• Uninstall unwanted programs and minimize the number of background programs using the ‘System Configuration Utility’.
• Run a virus scan in Safe Mode.
• Use a ‘Cooling Pad’ to avoid overheating.
Hope it helped.
